So we finally painted Miss E's room. We planned on painting both kids rooms before we moved into our new house back in June. Well we got Kal's room done but ran out of time to do hers before actually moving in, so we had to put it off. Summer was here and we wanted to enjoy the weather, then fall came and we were busy every weekend. Finally we had some downtime and decided that we were going to paint it. Kal has been bugging to do it for months now. He really wanted to help!
Daddy did most of it, it was just easier for me to keep the kids happy and let him work. He finished right around nap time so we took a car ride. After all the walls were still wet and her furniture was all in the middle of the room. I don't even think we got out of our neighbourhood (and that is not far!) and she was asleep. We ventured into the heart of town, the roads were nuts, there were so many cars and still a little snow left over. We tried to stay relaxed and were so happy that Kal was great about being quiet in the car while she slept. He really wanted to come so he promised to be quiet. After a few hours and not getting very far we decided to head back home. Perfect timing as she woke up and wanted a snack.
Well later that night we put Ella to bed. She sleeps until 4am where she starts to get a little fussy. Daddy goes in, he is the master at getting her back to sleep, but it doesn't work. After a little while I realize it has been an hour she has been awake so I go into her room. I can't believe the paint smell. It was HORRIBLE! I picked her up and brought her into my room to sleep the rest of the night.
I am mad. This is expensive fancy Benjamin Moore paint that is supposed to be environmentally friendly and have really really low VOC's. I can't imagine how she lasted that long. We used it in Kal's room too but never noticed this. I have been airing her room out all day today, but it is hard as it is winter and freezing here. I hope tonight is better, or else she will be sleeping with us again. At least I can start to decorate her room, her "pink piggy" walls are ready for all her stuff.
