Happy Holidays to all!

I wanted to wish all of our Grace Announcements customers and avid blog readers Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas! I hope that you and your family enjoy the time together and create some magical memories to cherish - whether it is your baby's 1st Christmas or your 50th.

It has been a crazy holiday season with the weather, Grace Announcements and our health. I was sick with strep last week and now my poor little guy has it. This is his second time in the last 5 weeks. I hope he is feeling a little better tomorrow, he got antibiotics this morning so tomorrow morning will be 24 hours.

I have been going at a crazy pace for so long that this past week has been so quiet I don't know what to do with my time! I can't believe that I am bored every evening. When I am busy I have a list a mile long of stuff that I "need" to do and "want" to do. Maybe I really should start making lists!

Looking forward to 2009 (I am not sure how long it will take me to get use to that!) and excited to start the new year with some new things.

Painting woes

So we finally painted Miss E's room. We planned on painting both kids rooms before we moved into our new house back in June. Well we got Kal's room done but ran out of time to do hers before actually moving in, so we had to put it off. Summer was here and we wanted to enjoy the weather, then fall came and we were busy every weekend. Finally we had some downtime and decided that we were going to paint it. Kal has been bugging to do it for months now. He really wanted to help!

Daddy did most of it, it was just easier for me to keep the kids happy and let him work. He finished right around nap time so we took a car ride. After all the walls were still wet and her furniture was all in the middle of the room. I don't even think we got out of our neighbourhood (and that is not far!) and she was asleep. We ventured into the heart of town, the roads were nuts, there were so many cars and still a little snow left over. We tried to stay relaxed and were so happy that Kal was great about being quiet in the car while she slept. He really wanted to come so he promised to be quiet. After a few hours and not getting very far we decided to head back home. Perfect timing as she woke up and wanted a snack.

Well later that night we put Ella to bed. She sleeps until 4am where she starts to get a little fussy. Daddy goes in, he is the master at getting her back to sleep, but it doesn't work. After a little while I realize it has been an hour she has been awake so I go into her room. I can't believe the paint smell. It was HORRIBLE! I picked her up and brought her into my room to sleep the rest of the night.

I am mad. This is expensive fancy Benjamin Moore paint that is supposed to be environmentally friendly and have really really low VOC's. I can't imagine how she lasted that long. We used it in Kal's room too but never noticed this. I have been airing her room out all day today, but it is hard as it is winter and freezing here. I hope tonight is better, or else she will be sleeping with us again. At least I can start to decorate her room, her "pink piggy" walls are ready for all her stuff.

Merry Christmas to all!

Is it December already?

Where has this year gone? I can't believe that it is already December. I still have all of my Christmas shopping to do! Oh well I am hoping that things will calm down soon and give me a little spare time to shop. Grace Announcements has been really busy this holiday season and my life shows it. I went to a workshop at my sons school last night. I was gone for 1.5 hours and came home to 20 emails. So because of all this our dinners have been simple, easy and quick. The only laundry getting done is the kids, thankfully my husband and I have lots of clothes! The housework has fallen behind, that is okay I will spend a couple of weeks in the new year deep cleaning. Hey there is another bonus to all that extra housework. It will help me work off those extra pounds that I always seem to gain the month of December! I like food, what can I say!!

But all of that doesn't concern me. I have been creating some amazing holiday cards for some great new customers and many of my amazing repeat customers. I decorated the house with the kids. Does it matter that 90% of my ornaments are on the bottom 6 inches of the tree? Okay they were but the perfectionist in me fixed that! I will start some baking soon too, I soooo love baked goods. Shortbread cookies are so yummy!

So I have a few designs to complete then off to bed, hopefully I can recharge my batteries. I am sure that tomorrow morning will bring new things. Thankfully my mom and husband have been a great help to allow me to work. If I get an extra hour one of these evenings I will try to post more designs. There are some really great ones!
